MVA - Interstate 79 at West 26th Street

01/22/10 - Kearsarge and MPS were dispatched for a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 79 at West 26th Street. Initial information reported 2 vehicles head on with entrapment at Interchange and Interstate 79. MP-14 arrived first on scene and reported 2 vehicles heavy damage with entrapment. MP-27 arrived soon after, reported a class 5 patient, and the accident was within the City of Erie. Chief 441 (Burhenn) arrived and assumed command of the incident. Rescue 444, Engine 443, and Utility 446 responded, controlled traffic, provided lighting for the Pennsylvania State Police, and cleared the roadway. Crews operated for 3 hours. This accident is currently under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
