Structure Fire - 5000 Block of Zuck Rd
02/23/10 - A first alarm was transmitted for a residential structure fire in the 5000 block of Zuck Road this evening. Deputy Chief 450 (Kapen) responded and reported heavy smoke in the area. Initial reports from dispatch were of a working trailer fire with entrapment. MPS arrived on location with Chief 450 and reported a working fire and confirmed entrapment. Chief 450 took command. Engine 442 responded with 5 volunteers, arrived first due, and stretched 200' of 1.75" preconnect. Engine 443 arrived second due with 5 volunteers and preformed a reversed lay of 900' of 4" supply hose. Their crew stretched a second 1.75" preconnect line. At this time crews determined a fatality within the structure. Additional companies that responded and operated were Tower 449, Utility 446, WRFD Engine 472, KHC R.I.T, and MPS. Crews operated for approximately 4 hours. This fire is under investigation by the Millcreek Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police.
